Edison Mayo Jr, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend departed this life on Thursday, April 07 at the age of 57. He was born August 30, 1964 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Edison and Frances Griffin Mayo. He was one of six children. Edison attended elementary school at Mossville Junior High School and graduated from Westlake High School in Westlake, Louisiana. Edison attended University of Louisiana, Lafayette after receiving an athletic scholarship in football. After attending College, he enlisted in the United State Navy. After completing his military duties in San Diego, California, he relocated to Stockton where he attended Delta College. Edison obtained his Automotive Mechanic License, Truck Driving Certification and HAZMAT Endorsement. One of Edison most memorable experiences in life was being blessed to play on the Delta College football team with his younger brothers whom he was 11 years their senior. Edison worked as a self-employed mechanic and a HAZAT truck driver for varies Stockton area businesses and a member of the Local 439 Teamster Union. He has lived in Stockton, California the majority of his life and was a valued member of the community.
Edison is preceded in death by Edison Mayo Sr (father), Frances Mayo (mother), Carlon Mayo (brother), Ulridge Mayo Jr (nephew), Florence Griffin Hall (grandmother) and Susan Griffin (Aunt).
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved companion, Gail Duncan; two daughters, Olivia Douglas and Elisha Mayo; one son, Elijah Mayo; sister, Tamara (Stephen) Ceaser; four brothers, Marlon (Sarat) Mayo, Sanders Jaylon (Sofia) Mayo, Ulridge Shean Mayo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends.
Edison will be remembered for his love of camping, traveling, boating, hunting, family gathering and just enjoying life to the fullest. All who truly knew Edison, knew he was “one of our very own” and loved him.
