Service Options
Cunningham Funeral Services offers several types of funeral services. Before
choosing a funeral service, take into consideration the needs of each family member
and the many options available to your family. It may help family members to have
a visitation before the funeral service to assist with the healing process. The
body present serves as a focal point for mourners and helps them acknowledge the
reality that a death has occurred. Whatever type of service you choose, remain
confident that our staff will coordinate every detail for you, giving you more time
to concentrate on being with family and friends. Our commitment to personal care is
our #1 concern to the families that we serve.
Traditional Funeral Services
A traditional funeral service is when your loved one is present. Generally
visitation is held the day or night before the service. The funeral service itself
may be held at our funeral home, your church or a special place that the family has
chosen. Funeral services often consist of scripture readings, prayers, a eulogy or
sermon and music. After the service, there is usually a procession to the cemetery
or crematory for a committal service.
Memorial Services
A memorial service is held when the deceased is not present. It also many take
place at our funeral home, your church or a special chosen place. This is a
special time to remember a loved one through fellowship with family and friends.
Memorial services are perfect for the families who desire direct cremation or
anatomical donation.
Cremation Services
Cremation is a type of final disposition where the deceased is reduced to ashes. A
traditional funeral service may precede the cremation process rather than the
traditional burial in a cemetery. The only consideration you would have would be
that the casket purchased must be of a combustible material. Cremation services
offer options with the cremains that are left as well, such as burial of the
cremains, entombment, scattering or simply keeping them in your possession. Some
families do decide to keep the remains in an urn at their chosen place.
